Over the years I’ve come to realize that the best motivator, accountability partner, results-getter, and profit maker I have ever found is to invest heavily in myself through others.
Earlier in my entrepreneurial career I used to be afraid to do this. And it hurt me big time. I’d buy up all these lower priced products expecting them to change my life and make me wildly profitable but they rarely had much impact.
As I look back I think it’s probably because I didn’t pay much attention to them. Sure, I’d dive right into a new book or training but typically I’d get side tracked pretty quick by some other promising thing.
And because I worked solo I never had anyone to kick me in the ass and say get back to work! Stay focused! Finnish the training! Stop jumping around from thing to thing! etc., etc..
Staying on task and focused on the right things would have saved me a lot of time and and netted me a heck of a lot more profit over the years.
But again, as a solo entrepreneur it can be difficult to keep yourself in check sometimes. But I did find a way.
Nowadays, anytime I want to improve upon an area of my business I find someone who is already doing or done what I need to learn and then I invest as heavily as possible.
The reason is, the more I invest, the more skin I have in the game. And personally I hate wasting money. And that is exactly what keeps me on task! I have no problem losing a few bucks on a book or course that I’ve never completed but I sure as hell have an issue losing thousands of dollars!!
And that’s exactly why today I invest as heavily as possible into programs, coaches, and mentors…because the investment itself keeps ME accountable to myself. It’s by far, the best motivator, accountability partner, results-getter, and profit maker I have ever found.
