For over a month now I’ve been shouting from the roof tops that I’m leaving Aweber and moving to a whole new autoresponder system.
It was a colossal move but it is finally complete.
Get this…
- I had to manually move 31 autoresponder lists…
- And for each of those lists I had to create TWO new lists totaling 62 separate, segmented lists…
- For each of the 31 lists I created:
- a list for subscribers who I wanted to “Re-engage, and
- an “Active” list for those that responded to my re-engagement campaign.
- After doing all that I had to swap out all the opt-in forms on all my squeeze pages…
- Then I had to move all my auto-responder follow-up sequences…
- And finally, after all that I used an email list cleaning service to scrub my entire lists and removed all the invalid email addresses.
Phew! Thank God that’s done.
After scrubbing my list I was able to find and delete 1,252 invalid email addresses from my list.
So why did I do all this?
Great question. And to be fair, I can’t answer it in it’s entirety here in this one message but here are the highlights…
1. Email Deliverability
Email deliverability is continuing to drop across all industries.
Statistics show that 20% of most marketers emails are not getting through. Those 20% include your customers.
Deliverability is largely based on your “sender reputation” which is connected to your IP address, spam complaints and more.
HINT: If you’re on Aweber, Getresponse, 1Shopping Cart, iContact, and most other third party autoresponder services you’re on a shared IP.
That means when “Joe Spammer” mails out a bunch of crap it negatively impacts YOUR reputation score. Meaning less or YOUR emails will get through.
It’s of key importance that you get you own dedicated mailing IP.
2. Email Open Rates
Email open rates are also suffering. Have you checked yours lately?
3. Lack of Features and Functionality
Being able to import, export, move and scrub leads is a must.
* Emailing invalid email addresses gets you on spam lists and again, kills your sender reputation.
4. Decreasing Return On Investment
As your list continues to grow (with valid and invalid leads) Aweber continues to charge you more. Heck, they even charge your for your Unsubscribes and duplicate email addresses!
So that my friend, in a nut shell, is why I left Aweber.
Perhaps if enough people show interest I’ll do a more in-depth training webinar on the subject.
Until then, if you have a question leave a comment and let me know.
Talk soon,
Glen Hopkins
P.S. Oh, in case you were wondering, After a great deal of research, I moved all my lists to arpReach. With it I set up my own dedicated IP address.
arpReach is a highly robust software. Plus it’s a one-time payment. Image never having to pay monthly fees again no matter how big your list grows. Nice! 😉
